waiting

waiting is not something i'm very good at. i used to think that waiting was the horror of efficiency and the bane of creativity. my generation is not a generation of wait-ers that is why we love the remote control.

but there is a different type of waiting that neither abhors efficiency nor impedes creativity. there is a different type of waiting that comes not only from patience, but from hope.

there is a different type of waiting that springs from hoping in a God who hopes in us.

in a God who waits for us.

paghihintay

naghihintay ang pusong
may kasamang pagtahimik
nag-aabang ang diwa
kahit kay dilim ng langit
nahihimlay sa duyan
ng ala-alang kumakapit
sa hanging umiihip
at mga talang umaawit

naghihintay ang pusong
may kasamang pagtangkilik
sa pag-asang di malaon
ang umaga nga’y sasapit
nahihimlay sa duyang
hinahabi ng pag-ibig
at marahang inaalon
ng paghele ng `Yong awit

sadyang mahaba man ang gabi
may pag-ibig na hindi napapawi
may tiwalang mamalagi
may pag-asang manatili
sa pag-ibig na hindi nagkukubli
hindi man lubusang matanto
ang pag-inog nitong aking mundo
may pag-asang mula sa `Yo
inaawit nitong puso
na nagtitiwalang Ika’y kapiling ko
